Why Use Australian Voice Talent?

Australian Voice Over

Aussie radio imaging

1. It’s Different and Refreshing

OK, if you’re reading this in Australia, an Aussie voice may not be different but to the rest of the English speaking world a voice over from down under can be just the refreshing change to make your audio stand out.

Few radio stations outside Australia and New Zealand have made the bold move to be different and choose to use Australian radio jingles. I remember DMG Radio doing so for their UK based radio stations in the late 1990s.

2. Subliminal Association

Radio is often referred to as “theatre of the mind”. What images pop into your head when I say “Australia”?

Here are some of my associations: sunshine, laid back lifestyle, beautiful scenery and beaches. Isn’t that a great subliminal brand for your radio station?

3. Friendly, Personal and Direct

Voices from Oz often come across as friendly, personable and easy for a listener to relate to with their warm and laid back style. Many Australian radio personalties (such as Hamish & Andy and Ugly Phil) have presented shows on UK radio stations.

4. Australian Slang and Stereotypes

“Ripper, mate!” Perhaps you’re a DJ organising a beach party or a radio station “flat out like a lizard drinking” working on your next tropical holiday radio contest. Get an Aussie on the audio and make it stand out! “She’ll be right.”

Leave a comment and let me know your opinion on Aussie voices. Happy Australia Day!
